Woodward Family
« on: Tuesday 13 October 15 04:51 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find the parents of Isaac Woodward born 1838 in Flecknoe Warwickshire. There are 2 sets of potential parents in different census documents. 1841 census - William & Jane Woodward with children Emanwell, Mark,Ester, ISIAH,Emma. 1851 census - William & Jane Woodward with children Mary,ISAAC, Emily,Charles, James, Hannah. Which is the correct family?
Known information about Isaac Woodward: 1.His son was Arthur William Woodward b 1878 Old Bilton Warwickshire.  2. Isaac's wife was Mary b 1838 Southam Warwickshire.

Hi going on the 1871 census included in the household is a William Goldsby aged 14 b Southam, then this marriage certificate would provide details of his father:-

Isaac Woodward to Mary Goldsby Sept qtr 1859 Southam 6d 741
Census Ref RG10/3187/162/10 in 1861 Isaac gives place of birth as Southam.

PS checked the 1841 census, in my opinion their is only one family, Isaac has been recorded incorrectly as Isiah, but all the rest of the children in 1841 are the ones on 1851.

Thank you keyboard 86.
I am still struggling as in the 1841 census there is a 5 year age gap between William and Jane, whereas in the 1851 census it is only a one year difference.
There is a comment on the 1941 census - a post from Patricia Nichols64, as follows:
William Woodward on 1841 census in civil parish of Wolfhamcote was not born in Flecknoe. He came from Rutland see 1851 census. The William Woodward who was born in Flecknoe is in Hanslope Bucks on the 1841 census.
How do I determine what is correct?
Many thanks

I have to agree with Keyboard as to them being the same family.
In 1841 ages over 15 were rounded down to the nearest 5, so Jane could have been 34.

Parish register for Wolfhampcote has the baptism of an Isaac son of William, a shoemaker, and Jane Woodward of Flecknoe at the age of 25 or 26 (indistinct) 1864 (gives birth 1838 ish).  An Isaac (also a shoemaker) and Mary Woodward had Sarah Jane and Edwin baptised on Oct 16th same year.
