Thank you very much Lucy 2, your research is excellent. Now having found these, can you tell me when John Wm Kirby was born and whether the couple had any children?

Also Elizabeth Sutherland's birth and whether they had children?

Also Reginald Grubb's birth and whether they had children?

Blimey, Cr !! 

The three girls listed previously, were the daughters of May and John William KIRBY.   You can find them listed on his WW1 Army service record.   However, he'd made some errors with their birth information (datewise).   Suggest you use the NZ BDM listings to work out their actual birthdates.
[Their places of birth seem to be correct.   2 @ Mangonui ;  1 @ Blenheim.]

Likewise, an error made in his date/year of marriage. 

Married, May BARTLETT at Blenheim. Minister:  Archdeacon GRACE - date:  15 August 1894
(He'd given "14/8/1895" ).

A "Margaret and John KIRBY" also had a son, John, born 1897 - reg'd at Patea (Taranaki province).

You may find additional info further on in his v. lengthy file ?

To complicate matters, he seems only to appear in NZ Electoral rolls as "John KIRBY" ... so no easy way to determine when and where he arrived in NZ.

Cr ... I would suggest that you contact the Karori Cemetery at Wellington if you're wanting further information for Reginald Thomas and Verona(Verona Gertrude Lilias) GRUBB and any family they had.   
We're entering territory whereby we may impact on persons still living, and their privacy needs to be respected. 

Please note: Karori Cemetery records (there are a number for Reginald Thomas GRUBB - all the same person) ... and two for Verona GRUBB of which they have her listed as "Veronica Gertrude GRUBB" and "Veronica G.L. GRUBB".     One of these records pertaining to Veronica Gertrude GRUBB gives a burial date of "23/2/1899" (can't see a death for this ?) ... Plot "CH ENG - Plot 135 A".     This particular Plot is where Verona's mother, Ada Florence NASH is buried. [Without knowing a "surname" it's hard to tell who was interred in that plot earlier, in 1899. ]
