Many thanks lizdb for your efforts that family is now totally ruled out.

Annette7 many thanks for your help I have found William Richson - m. 9th Dec 1810 to Elizabeth Jupe in Berks and Oxford and Charles m. Betsey 1842 Windsor neither mention the fathers.  I have also found Charles Rixom in the 1841 census.  (I have used the spelling given in case anyone else is interested)  I had noted his occupation as poulter not butler as suggested by yourself but I feel you are probably right. 

Can I assume you have access to the original parish records so the information you have given is more accurate than what I have been able to obtain via anscestry.  Am I able to access Berkshire parish records on line at all? if not do you have any suggestions of how I can access them apart from visiting.
