Oh sad but true, however by the 11 Eleanor had had 10 and seven were still living - all four girls married in North shields James & Hugh I have, Thomas would have made the seven.

Yes just found him on the 1901 census ( Tom ) and the family in the later one

That does answer a lot about James trip to Newfoundland, as I note that his voyage was paid for by Sir W.G. Armstrong Whitworth - see below borrowed from Wiki :

The  above company can also be credited with helping to create the town of Deer Lake in the Dominion of Newfoundland. Between 1922 and 1925, a hydroelectric station was built at Deer Lake by the Newfoundland Products Company and Sir W. G. Armstrong Whitworth and Company. The canal system used by the hydroelectric station helped to expand the forestry operations in the area. Some of the equipment used in the construction of the Panama Canal was shipped to Newfoundland island. Electricity from the project was used to power the pulp and paper mill in Corner Brook. Since the 1920s, Deer Lake has grown into a major area for the lumber industry, as well becoming a service-oriented centre.

Now then, given that his sponsor was a "nob", how about a look round to see what archives holds WGAW's corporate papers. There *might* be some mention  of your James there. It does seem likely that James was previously employed by him.

Yes he had been with them for some time, and working as a 'Rigger' in Walker shipyard, so yes again, as for 'Readheads' see you in TWA ?  Below is quote from ' Glaces Guide'
" Lower Walker yard built in 1924 Two Newsprint Carriers - the S.S. Humber Ann and the S.S.Corner Brook, both had Ice cutting bows and carried 5,000 Tons - These were part of a larger project, which lead to the downfall of Sir W.G.Armstrong Whitworth & Co. In 1929 the company suffered very heavy losses."

Back to search - we know ( I think) that in 1924/25 his address was 95 Lamb Street Walker and his wife's Christian names started with M.S.H. but still cannot find a marriage which would be correct, or if they have children or not - Any ideas please ?

The only other thing would be to try and find him in the electoral rolls to see if you can get a wife's name ...Hard to find any children when you don't have mothers maiden name
