William Atchison/Atkinson father of Robert Atkinson

Looking for parents of Robert Atchison/Atkinson. Robert was born at Wallsend 1823 and he married Jane Neal in 1852 at All Saints Newcastle Upon Tyne. On the marriage cert it says father of Robert is William (dec) so think he is dead. Have looked online at loads of records to no avail, Been to Woodhorn and Durham records office, still no luck. Paid for seraches and paid a geneologist to no avail, so we are stuck. Can find some Williams but can't tie them to Robert. So not sure which one is his father and who is his mother. Looked in church records, but some don't cover year of his birth, been round alot of grave yards, still no luck. All we know is Robert was born at Wallsend in 1823. Can you please help? We have tried to get a birth cert for Robert, to no avail, but we have a marriage cert and a death record at Witton Gilbert, St Michaels all angels. Family lived around Kimblesworth. Robert and Jane had a son called jeriamiah, if that helps.

This could well be the same family with father William in 1841  -Mistranscribed - Living at Kelloe, Durham.   Both William and wife Isabella born in County Durham.

There won't be a birth certs pre the start of registration in 1837, but there might be a baptism

This was the occupation given for William on son Robert's 1852 marriage certificate (from one of your earlier threads)

Hi, We finally have a marriage certificate, which is for Robert and Jane, the surname of Robert on the marriage cert is Atchison and for Jane is Neal. Durham registry office did a search for us and this is what they came up with. This is the only marriage with a marriage of robert and Jane, in that area, so must be them. Their children are all down as Atkinson. Robert's father's name is William Atchison, a Pitman. Jane's father is John Neal, a mariner. Robert and Jane are residents at Byker Bar, when they got married. Any advice about the name change and how to proceed?  Thanks

All we know is Robert was born at Wallsend in 1823.

Hi, we know Jeriamiah's details are correct, as we have his birth and marriage details. His parents are Robert Atkinson and Jane nee Neal (oNeal). We have Robert and jane's marriage certificate which states that Robert is 28 when he got married in 1852 and was a pitman, his father as stated on the marriage cert is William Atchison, a  pit man. Jeriamiah is registered as Atkinson at birth and marriage cert. So we worked backward from 1852 and got  Roberts birth year to be around 1823/24. In 1841 census Robert was lodging age 17 at Heaton, Newcastle and he was a pitman. In 1851 census he was lodging with Thomas parker at Sea View Row, Cowpen. Hope this helps you to help us. Many thanks
