Cause of death help
« on: Wednesday 21 October 15 00:02 BST (UK) »
can anyone understand what the cause of death is please?

I'm reading "Drunkenness Frostation Certfied"

Is it really being drunk and freezing to death?! It was February after all!

It could also be Prostration but i'm not sure what that means in this context

Any ideas?

Ah Thank you for that.

Do you reckon a death like that would have had an inquest and been mentioned in the local paper or would that have been noted on the death certificate?

There are many dictionaries on the Internet. One definition I felt seems to fit the cause of death.

"Prostrated: having lost all strength or determination because of illness or an extremely bad experience".

I would certainly have a look at the newspapers. OH & I both have an antecedant who died as a result of alcohol-one was of dissipated habits and died of intemperance, the other froze in the snow after a payday binge. Both were reported in the local papers  and interestingly enough, both were in 1856 in the North East of Scotland.

If there had been an inquest, the informant would have been the coroner (I think).
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.
