Jno Youngman abt 1801 Stonemouth, Suffolk.
« on: Monday 26 October 15 15:49 GMT (UK) »
 Found him on the 1851 census saying he was born at
Stonemouth and was a tailor but I can't find that there was such a place in Suffolk.  Could anyone please help.

I can see a John Youngman  in the 1851 Census  age 58  Tailor who was born in Norfolk,  Yarmouth.  His wife's name is Hannah.
Is this the one you mean ?

Hi and welcome to Rootschat

This doesn't answer your query re: birthplace but looking at the actual 1851 image - his name looks more like Geo (George) than Jno (John)  see below

I'm a Suffolk girl (well, once upon a time) and I can assure you there is nowhere in Suffolk called Stonemouth!   I'm wondering whether the enumerator couldn't read his own notes and that it should be Stowmarket.

Two baptisms took place in Stowmarket, Suffolk (familysearch):

Isabella bp.27/8/1793, dau. of James Youngman and Dorcas Oxer.
Robert bp.19/7/1795, son of James Youngman and Dorcas.

Can't see one for John BUT it seems that both James and Dorcas died in London, also in St. Marylebone. i.e. James bc.1764, bur.24/7/1833 and Dorcas bc.1765, bur.10/4/1853.

Seems somewhat of a coincidence so thought I'd mention.

Its strange as Dorcas should appear on 1851 Census.

Another couple of anomilies;

A Dorcas OXER Married Robert YOUNGMAN, 13 January 1790, Hockwold, Norfolk

Dorcas OXER Christened 10 Jan 1768, Ixworth, Suffolk to WILLM/CATH

ANNABEL Youngman Buried 1 April 1790, Wilton, Norfolk, Parents ROBERT/DORCAS
