Hello.
I am in touch with his  Bertrams daughter. I didnt know about him or Annie until she got in touch with me. We are second cousins. The info I got about his mum and birthdate are all from her. From what I can gather he had a difficult relationship with his mother and my cousin has very little information about her father and her grandmother. If the birthdate that you give is correct then I have been looking at the wrong person . As for his name changing, he was called Bertram Ernest then according to records the Bertram was dropped. Its seems all very complicated . I wonder now if Annie was his birth mother.

The only certain way to be sure is to buy a copy of his birth cert.  If he was born late in 1906 - say Nov/Dec - his birth may not have been registered until after Christmas which would account for it being in the March qtr of 1907
