Seeking O'Rahilly Street, Cavan from 1923 - 1942
« on: Friday 30 October 15 16:17 GMT (UK) »
On my mother's birth certificate 1923 place of birth is given as O'Rahilly Street, Cavan.  I also have a Photo Album with her name and address on the cover. Violet Moore, 9 O'Rahilly Street, Cavan, Eire. It did contain many photos of her family.  Sadly they were removed but the writing remained. They would have been so useful as I have very few pictures of her childhood in Ireland and know very little about my grandparents who both died when I was very young.

I have tried googling,  O'Rahilly street but have drawn a blank.  In the 60's we had a holiday in Northern Ireland which is where her mother and father came from and I remember we visited Cavan and am sure we went to the street she was born in.  If my memory serves me it was a row of terraced houses that opened straight onto the pavement. Reminiscent of the T.V. series "Bread".  But I was very young.

Can anyone help please.  I also remember her mentioning another address College Street but cant remember in what context.

Thank you for links. Didn't quite understand 2nd one. Was that concerning O`Rahilly Street? That's where she was born at 9 not 7.

I really dont know what the College Street reference was concerning may be where she went to school.

Maybe a local will read this?  But thank you so much for your help much appreciated.
