Birth records
« on: Monday 09 November 15 09:21 GMT (UK) »
Is there the equivalent of freebmd for birth records etc in Ireland? I am looking for births in the 1960's and 1970's. Thanks

You've posted on the Resource board which is not for queries- just click on 'report to moderator' to get the topic moved to main IRELAND board.

There is an online civil registration list for Ireland but it only goes up to 1958 (to 1921 for Northern Ireland counties).
https://familysearch.org/search/collection/1408347

Here the limit is 100 years-
The Indexes to Birth Records over 100 years, the Indexes to Marriage Records over 75 years and the Indexes to Death Records over 50 years are available to search on www.irishgenealogy.ie.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

There is a search facility at the Registrar's Office in Dublin
They hold the books of entries where if you know an approx. date you can look up the record
or if you have the patience trawl through them all!

If you have specific dates you can apply for the certificate and the GRO will search +/-2 years also
However your information have to include parents' names etc and be specific
Kearney & Bourke/ Johns & Fox/ Mannion & Finan/ Donohoe & Curley
Byrne [Carthy], Keeffe/ Germaine, Butler/ McDermott, Giblin/ Lally, Dolan
Toole, Doran; Dowling, Grogan/ Reilly, Burke; Warren, Kidd [Lawless]/ Smith, Scally; Mangan, Rodgers/ Fahy, Calday; Staunton, Miller
