William Thomas Jacobs service record
« on: Monday 09 November 15 14:04 GMT (UK) »
H.I am looking for the service record of a ancestor named William Thomas Jacobs born 1889 in
Heatherlands, Poole, Dorset.
I believe he joined the army in 1918 just after getting married.  He may have been killed in action but cannot confirm this.
Any help much appreciated.
Dud.

Servicemen (and women) who died during both wars can be found on the Commonwealth War Graves website www.cwgc.org

But I'm not seeing your chap?

Also, be aware that nearly 70% of the WW1 Service Records were destroyed in a WW2 bomb attack. ::)

Confusingly, I found this entry at CWGC:

Jacobs, William Charles
Private 295931, 12th Bn Royal Scots Fusiliers
Died 6th November 1918

Son of John and Mary Elizabeth Jacobs, of West Maers, nr. Wimborne, Dorset.

The UK, Soldiers Died in the Great War database adds:
Born Verwood, Dorset
Enlistment place: Cupar, Fifeshire
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)
