It is difficult to find further information before the 1841 Census.

SP has a death for an Ann Nicol(other surname McDonald) 1879 Perth , Perth , born c1794.

A bit out on the age given on the 1841 Census transcription but it might be worth a look.

Looks like John & Ann's marriage

Tibbermore, Perth 1808

Perth

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XY3J-P5D

Both would have been from different parishes but same 2 people

This looks like William

Perth 1808

and sblings

The death Ev provided is definitely worth checking as it's not out much in terms & it depended on the informant.

The other thing to consider is there was only 1 marriage for those 2 names 1800 - 1820

SP has a death for an Ann Nicol (other surname McDonald) 1879 Perth , Perth , born c1794.

Hello everybody,
I've been meaning to reply to this post for a while but I haven't had a chance to get round to it before now!
I have a copy of that death cert for Ann Nicol 1879.
It says she was the Widow of John Nicol a Grocer. She passed away at 13 Barossa (?) street, Perth aged 85.
Her father was Donald Mcdonald and her mother was Wainwood Mcdonald no M.S or occupation for either. The informant was George Clark the son in law :)

Molly,

There's a marriage on familysearch.org for Wainwood & Donald McDonald 1776.

Her m/s would also be McDonald.

If you go to familysearch just type in Wainwood McDonald & it brings up plenty so no need to type in place or dates.

Hello Annie,
Yes I've also purchased that  cert from SP  :)
I did strike me as odd that her surname was also Mcdonald, do you think that they where related?  ???

I can't seem to find anything on Wainewood Mcdonald  ???

Does anybody know about the name 'Wainewood'? It's so unusual, is it a common name in Scotland or is it a last name being used as a first name or something? I can't find anything about the name on Google, only a few other people that had it as a name also which doesn't help! :)

Molly,

It's not impossible they were related.

Can you tell us which parish both were from please?
