Keep in mind that if the father had disappeared when the children were young (for whatever reason) the son might list him as deceased even if he didn't actually know that the father had died.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Have you tried the valuation books

https://apps.proni.gov.uk/Val12B/ImageResult.aspx

I quickly checked through the entries in Cross in the 1909 + book, but I couldn't see a record of hime, but could be worth a second look.

Here is William's parents and siblings in 1911
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Armagh/Tanderagee/Terryhoogan/332444/

I would look for the other living children in 1911

The children in 1901 are

David - at home in 1911
William
Robert - Where is he in 1911?
Thomas - Where is he is 1911?
Victor
Samuel
Jane Eliza

Born after 1901
George
Sarah Ann

They had 10 children and 9 living at this stage - the first child William David died in infancy

Just bringing this to the front again.  Haven't been able to break down the brick wall on this one.  Just posting again if there are any new sources available that I may have overlooked or not be aware of.

The only record I have found since, is his attempt to enlist in the Royal Irish Fusiliers in 1906, when he was clearly underage by a year, give is birth date as 1889 and later was discharged.  He used only William Walker on enlistment.

Details of Militia Attestation Papers, 1800-1915:- William Walker, Gender Male, Marital Status Single, Age 17, Birth Year abt 1889, Birth Place Tullylish, Gilford, Down, Ireland, Enlistment Date 5 Nov 1906, Enlistment Place Portadown, Ireland, Regiment 87th Foot (R. Irish Fusiliers), Service Number 4782, Father James Walker, Mother Jane Eliza.
