Which is correct Birth date
« on: Friday 20 November 15 20:30 GMT (UK) »

Not sure if this is the right place if not feel free to put it where it belongs:

My g.aunt Hetty(ie)  Burke married my g.uncle Harris T. Pallatt (born Cardiff 1905) in 1948 I have always had her birth as 1905/7 but on the 1939 register it is given as 1914.  How do I know if I have the right Hetty.  I have found their marriage in 1948 in Cardiff and the birth of their daughter in 1949.  Harris died in 1971 and Hetty 1991.

Her married name has been written above her maiden name on the 1939 register which I have been told would have been added afterwards.

Do I have the wrong Hetty(ie) and where do I find the right one ???

Have you found her in the 1911 as obviously if she was born 1914 she wouldn't have been on that? Who is Hetty living with in 1939, are there any clues there?

The best way to be sure is to see if the marriage certificate shows details of Hetty's father.
Once you have the father's name you can check if he appears with Hetty on the 1911 census.

All the best
Philip

UPDATE:  I saw only one Hettie or Hester birth on free BMD from 1900 to 1920:
Hettie Burke, Sep qtr 1907 Halifax vol 9a p425

It seems in 1939 she may have been boarding with a family, and is with an Isaac Burke born 1912 (brother??)

I have a 1911 census  record giving her age as 3, haven't unfortunately been able to get her marriage cert just the record of it

Emanuel Barkovity and 2 more people are on this record
2 officially closed

Am I looking at the right record?
