Young Family
« on: Wednesday 25 November 15 16:34 GMT (UK) »
Hello all, hope you can help us in our family search. We have the following information:

Theodoor Wilhelm Young  (Soerabaja, Indonesia 31. August 1906 – South Africa 28 - 6 – 1993)
Juliana Louise Stock (Blankenese, Germany 11-9-1911 – South Africa 8-4-2001)
Theodoor married Julia on the 22. April 1936 in “de Bilt” The Netherlands.
Children ( as far as we know):
Richard William Young ( ? 19-12-1945  –  South Africa 27-5-1992 )
Donnetta J Young ( 1940's………..?)

On the 5. January 1938 Theodoor leaves for Durban without his wife.

In 1953 we find the Family again travelling on a ship ( first class) from The Netherlands to Southampton England, Quebec Canada an probably later on to Cape Town, South Africa.
Questions:
Who can tell us when and where the family lived in South Africa?
Does anybody know if the children were born in South Africa??
Did the children ever got married and had children of there own?
What became of Donnetta Julia Young? We can't trace her.

Of course any other information would be more then wellcome!

Greetings from The Netherlands,
Dauro….

If you go to https://www.gendatabase.com and search for them they have the gazette notices for at least Theodoor's death - if you pay for view it should give you place of death - which would be your first clue.
His Maseti file
THEODOR WILHELM   YOUNG            MASETI FILE RECORD   5560/93   Cape Town Masters Office
is lodged at Cape Town so presumably he was living in the Western Cape at the time of his death
Given he died in 1993 the estate files are probably not in the archive - you would need to apply to the relevant department for a copy

Hi

Death records are held at the Masters Office in the relevant Department of Justice in the area.

Here are the contact details for the Masters Office in Cape Town

WARNO STEENKAMP  WSteenkamp" at "justice.gov.za ASSISTANT MASTER

You can try to email him quote the estate number and name, according to the Estates List he did leave a will so there should be some useful information on it.

If you don't get any help direct from the Masters Office (they are very busy) you can try through www.eggsa.org, they offer a service whereby they can get copies of files for a very reasonable fee.

I would also guess that by now the file has been transferred to the archives, as his estate seems to have been settled, but has not been captured onto the online database yet.

Good luck

I'm happy to tell you that after 6 years of searching, we have found them all!
To complete the picture there was also a third child named Chris.

Chris and Donnetta are still alive today.  :)

For privacy reasons this is all I can tell you about them.

Thank you for all your help.

Dauro.

p.s. never give up...
