The Margaret that arrived aged 2 could be this woman
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MJYN-R57
She's living with a lot of people, if you have a sub to Ancestry it might be worth having a look at what type of place they are living in but you would have to wonder if the family emigrated how did Peter end up back in Ireland.
I see in 1911 Peter and Anne have 14 children 12 living, have you got the names of all the children and Peter and Anne's marriage?

This looks like the staff at the hospital where Margaret worked. Not sure if they all resided there or they are listed at this address as that was their location during the census taking.
I'm pretty certain that Peter never went to the States and I have all of his children accounted for now except Matthew and the date/place of his marriage 12th Oct 1881 in Boherquill, Westmeath.
And I'm almost certain that Peters father Bernard did not go to the states either as he ran a farm in Garriskill, Westmeath.
Which makes all of this curious and could mean that Katie's contact Margaret Carrigy is not her fathers sister but a different relative. I'm going to look for Margarets emigration record which would help out here.

If it is the correct Margaret she is likely a cousin of Peter, called an aunt by Katie for convenience.

The 1911 passenger list for Matthew says his father was Peter of Faughalstown and he was going to join sister Kate Carrigy, 442 West 59th St., New York. His place of birth looks like Castlepotland, and his place of last residence was Dublin.

The parents' names seem messed up, but could this be Matthew?

Castlepollard?

Castlepollard, I think I saw one for Katie's with the same. It's a town in the area.
I was looking at that Matthew, it's very tempting looking.

The spelling is a bit off but could this be Matthew before he went to America.

Hi Shellyesq - thats him alright. I can confirm that his sister Kate was at that address in NYC and the family was from Castlepollard. I wasn't able to access the passenger record for Matthew myself, how did you find/access it?
