Burrows marriage
« on: Wednesday 02 December 15 16:43 GMT (UK) »
Any help appreciated.
I am looking for the marriage and hopefully the parents of James BURROWS, b. 1817 abt, Chaddesden, Derbyshire and Mary Ann ?? b. 1817 abt, Derbyshire.
He has a wife Mary Ann BURROWS in the 1851, 1861, 1871, 1881, and 1891 census all residing in Derbyshire. Occupation given as sawyer. He had a son James BURROWS b.1853 abt, in Derby. These are my 1st and 2nd greatgrandfather's.
I think this would put his marriage around 1850, when both would be in their 30s.
In the 1851 census, there is an Ann A ADAMS given as a daughter, so Mary Ann may have previously been married to an ADAMS.
I have searched marriage records on line and can find non that seem to match.
Interested in MUSSON and KNOWLES surnames mainly in Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Lancashire. LAKIN and BURROWS surnames mainly in Staffordshire, Shropshire, Warwickshire and Derbyshire. RILEY surname in Leicestershire. FLETCHER surname in Derbyshire. Very interested in the DUDLEY surname.

Hi,

Re 1851 Census
James Burrows states born abt 1822 St. Peter's Derby, it is only in later census he states born
Chaddesden.

The Child Ann A Adams, born abt 1842 Peckleton Leicestershire.

You can see her christening on Familysearch.co.uk:-

PECKLETON LEICESTERSHIRE
Ann Amelia Adams Bpt 2.10.1842 dau of Charles Adams & Mary Ann.
There is also Ann Ellen Adams Bpt 29.7.1841 dau of Charles Adams & Mary.

I think they are in Peckleton in June 1841 Census, on Ancestry the transcript is:-
Charles Adams age 75 - but actually 25  Shoe Maker
Mary Amelding age 25 - but actually Mary Ann Adams neither born in county

Thank you all, it's amazing how someone else perspective can unblock a problem  :)
Thank you spendlove for all that info, that is the right Mary Ann I am sure. I never thought to follow the Ann Amelia thread.
Thank you CaroleW, have got that BORROWS record, was not sure it was the correct Mary Ann, but from spendlove's information, think it is now most likely.
Thanks for the 1841 C info. This is my 2nd greatgrandfather, his brother Robert and their mother Mary BLACKSHAW.
Thank's so much everyone, that has really helped get through a blockage in my research  :)
