Mary Anne Jones lookup request

I am looking for a Mary Anne Jones who was born 16 July 1818 in 'Brecon', but precisely where in Brecon, I have no idea. I am presuming it is the town and not 'Breconshire'.

She then married Edward Lewis in Abergavenny in 1839 where they both lived until the 1850s when they moved to London.

Her parents might have been Miles Jones and Mary Llewelyn, but I have no dates for them at all or any knowledge of any other children.  Might they be listed in the 1841 census?

Sorry this is all a bit nebulous - I've been astonished at the number of Mary Annes I've encountered, and Jones ... well ... sigh!

There was only one Miles Jones  listed in Breconshire in 1841
 Details are as follows.
the 51 house in Church st is the last dwelling before
Bulwark.
Mary Ann, Margaret ,Esther and Walter all appear on the
IGI baptised Brecon St Mary`s some born to  Miles and Margaret and others to Miles and Mary

Gosh! That all sort of fits!

Mary Anne Lewis (nee Jones) children's names include Walter P, Esther, Miles and Margaret - perhaps following the habit of naming them after family members. The fact that she doesn't appear in the 1841 Census fits in with her being married by then and living in Abergavenny.

One of her other children, John James Lewis (my great grandfather), became a Wesleyan Methodist minister and emigrated to New Zealand - it's tempting to think that some of his uncle's 'divinity' might have rubbed off onto him!

What do the letters N and Y mean in the 1841 Census data?
Would you know what is meant by 'independent' in the info on Miles Jones?
