Unable to read writing under 1941 army photo
« on: Tuesday 08 December 15 04:58 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

My father was in the 925 Coy. R.A.S.C., 2nd Armoured Brigade, 1st Armoured Division. in 1941.
I am trying to decipher the writing under the photo.
It has been suggested the words after the studio name are Farnham Jan 1941.

Attached is the photo and a blow up of the writing.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you for the reply.

Good suggestion for the first part of the writing.

Re-reading my post I didn't explain my self very well.
What I am really am interested in is to confirm that the the second part of the writing is "Farnham Jan 1941"

Thanks again.

I see 'FaRNHaM 1941' - no 'Jan'. Strange mixture of upper & lower case - artistic I suppose  ;D.

What you need to do is look up a Telephone Directory for the area of Surrey which includes Farnham circa 1941  and check whether the Old Studio is listed.

How many places are named Farnham?    Is there a Farnham in Dorset near to Blandford Forum?

There's the Old Kiln Studio, photographers, listed in the phone books for 1938 and 1941 (address: The Borough, Farnham).
