William Stuart born 1873 in Carrigtwohill, Cork, Ireland

This is a long shot. Has anyone been researching and have any info to show that Wm Stuart emigrated to NZ?  According to his brother George (on his attestation papers) William was living in Kilkenny, Ireland, in 1900 but he doesn't appear on the 1901 Ireland census at all and there is only one possible entry on the 1911 census.  As his younger siblings emigrated to NZ I wondered if he did too: Maude born 1876, emigrated 1898, married Arthur Hill in 1902; George, born 1881, emigrated in about 1908, married Eva Martin in 1910, had a daughter Evelyn Maude, born and died 1911, and he died in 1912; Charles, born 1883, emigrated 1903, married Elizabeth McDonald in 1907 and had six children, died 1943 (thanks to Minniehaha for info about him).  All seemed to have lived in Christchurch or immediate vicinity. Hoping someone can help me over this brick wall..... Thanks

A quick browse through NZ BDM and came across one possibility........

1918/6440   Stuart   William      44Y [Not quite the right age]

 There is an entry for a William G Stuart in the 1901 Irish census for Kilkenny. He is aged 32 and has a wife and 7 children.  He is listed in Townland Kylemore, DED Rower, County Kilkenny . If this is your man he also appears in 1911 as William George Stuart with a wife, 10 children and his brother also living at the same address.

Possibly not as his probate file mentions parents and siblings. A different family by the looks of it.

Thank you Minniehaha and Beg for all for that info. I had seen the entry about Wm Stuart on the NZ BDM website so thanks for showing that he is not the correct one otherwise it would have meant sending off for the certificate.  I don't think the entries on the 1901/1911 censuses for Ireland is my man as he did not have a brother Harry and that Wm is shown as having been born in Kilkenny (even allowing for poor memory).  But that is all a terrific help.  Thanks again and regards.
