Joseph Psenak WW2

My wife's birth father who she never knew was a Canadian soldier called Joseph Senak. He passed through Newhaven, Sussex in 1944 where my wife's mother met him. His regiment no. was D137699 & he was a lance corporal. Does this number help identify where he was & what he or his regiment did during WW2.  I assume he went over to France in 1944.

All military records created before 1918, including the service files for those who served in First World War 1914-1918, and the service files for those killed in action during the Second World War 1939-1945, are open records and no access restrictions apply.

NO way of telling if this is the same Joseph but it is an unusual surname - there was a Joseph Psenak appearing on the Canada Voters List in Waterloo Ontario.  Joseph also appears on the OCFA (Ontario Cemetery Finding Aid)

Canadian Passenger Lists showed a Joseph Psenak born about 1921 Czechslovakia and aged 13 years travelling Le Havre France to Montreal arriving 30 April 1934 on the Ausonia  - also travelling mother Maria Psenak aged 35 years and sister Maria aged 7 years - Batora Frank was listed as the father of Maria and grandfather of Joseph and Maria. Husband of Marie Josef Psenak, Gently Road, Langueril Quebec.

I already knew about the burial in Galt, Ontario but can't seem to get a burial date or any other info without paying the Ontario Gen. Society a ridiculous amount for the cemetery transcript.

The Psenak family mentioned above still showed on Canada Voters List in 1974. Listed with a son and a daughter. 

Have you tried the nearest public library to see if someone could do a search for you  Or tried to locate the son "M" in Cambridge Ontario -  by using http://www.canada411.ca/
