Hi Dave

There are two William Buxton's who married at Sheffield Cathedral around that time, so some of the children baptised to just William could belong to him.

William Buxtan m Jane Thompson 15 April 1750

On the image for the marriage of William Buxton & Jane Thompson his occupation is given as Cutler.

The baptisms for 1753 - 1761 for Sheffield Cathedral to William Buxton gives occupation as Cutler.

The occupation of William Buxton who married Sarah Hallam was Collier.

Hope this helps

Hi sunflower.
I think that the marriage of William Buxton to Sarah Hallam at Sheffield Cathedral in 1752 could well be the one I have been looking for. It appears that there were quite a few coal mines in and around the Greasley area at that time, so with William stating that he was a collier on his marriage to Sarah I believe this could well be my 4x G/Grandparents. Many thanks for all your help with this post.
Dave.
