Thanks a million, Muss. This is great!

Is this information on a website somewhere or in a published book? So no Owen or Sophia Morgan (or Powell) are named as passengers?

From what I can glean, the "Westminster" arrived in Australian colonies only once in 1839, the year of their arrival here. That the ship was named in Owen's obituary narrows the search considerably.

Much appreciated. Thanks.

This archived web page lists many of the passengers of the Westminster (that are known).

Following a link to the surgeon's report of the voyage, I notice that children on board were given some schooling  by a "John Morgan" - possibly your man? (Owen and John sometimes being the same name, esp Irish and Welsh).

Thank you so very much, Maddys.

Owen Morgan had been at Trinity College Dublin in the 1830's and may well have been involved in some teaching while aboard. (His father Moore Morgan was a Church of Ireland minister so it is plausible that he would likely have some sense of helping people).

Much gratitude.
