Have a look at http://www.talkingscot.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=14874.  If you scroll down to "Scott's" post where he writes about researching the Renfrewshire Militia, you might be able to get in touch with him.  You will probably have to register with the site but that is no big deal.

They would certainly be the "Local Militia".
