Margaret Muter
« on: Wednesday 06 January 16 11:41 GMT (UK) »
Hi!
Can anyone shed any light on the following?

I have a Margaret Muter marrying an Edward Smart in 1845 at Gateshead and having the following children:

Margaret Jane Smart baptised 30th September 1847 Longbenton, Northumberland

Mary (Ada?) Smart born 1849 Usworth

Dorothy Smart born 1854 Castle Eden, Durham

On the census return Margaret gives her place of birth as Blyth, Northumberland c 1822/1823, same as her husband Edward Smart (c 1823 Blyth).

Any help with baptism, parents or census returns much appreciated! :)

I was about to ask the same question  :)

On the census return Margaret gives her place of birth as Blyth, Northumberland c 1822/1823,

If I have the correct Margaret in 1851, living in Cowpen with husband Edward and daughters Margaret J and Mary, her birthplace is given as Newton Underwood, not Blyth. It's some 12 miles from Blyth and west of Morpeth, in the Parish of Mitford http://www.genuki.bpears.org.uk/NBL/Mitford/

Margaret Mutter was baptised 15 April 1820 at Newton Underwood (see Jen's note above about the birthplace). Her parents are William and Lydia and William is a school master.

You can see the baptism record here

James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.
