To backtrack a bit... Stephen Howard Gemmell died 25 May 1911 at Coatbridge and wife was Jane Gardner. According to 1901 census they had: Helen J. (18), Agnes H. (16), Jane G. (13), Robert H.G. (11), John G. (8 ), William H.F.G. (5), Margaret H.F. (1).
20 April 1919 "Maraval" arrived New York from Demerara, Guyana
Robert Howard G. Gemmell, age 29y 1 mo, married, born Coatbridge Scotland, contact in county he'd come from- Mrs. S.H. Gemmell 11211 126th St. Edmonton Canada,
going to- wife Mrs. Norah B. Gemmell 1609 Finance Bldg [Philadelphia] Pa [possibly his business address], 5'6" fair complexion brown hair blue eyes.
