Wm BARNSLEY arriving Parthia, Sydney 1886
« on: Saturday 16 January 16 03:55 GMT (UK) »
I have just come across this entry in NSW immigrants. I've found newspaper articles about the ship's journey and subsequent quarantine etc.

I'd like to find any available details on this specific passenger, who I believe to be my great grandfather, William BARNSLEY b. 1864 in Shropshire. His first marriage was in 1888 in Bulli NSW so it fits the timeline.

**Please note I already do have details of his extended family in the UK and his marriages, children and death in Australia, including newspaper articles, death notices, burial etc.**

I'm seeking the passenger list if available please to see if I can match any other details, e.g. birthplace or occupation, to confirm or disprove it as the right record. (He was a bricklayer at the time.)

Thank you, fingers crossed  :)

Brilliant, thanks Merlin  :)

Not a lot of detail but does confirm he was an Englishman.

Glad I didn't fork out $25 for that! Thanks again x

Hi mollipops,
If you go to NSW state records and then choose immigration records ... you are taken to here http://www.records.nsw.gov.au/state-archives/guides-and-finding-aids/nrs-lists/nrs-5316#the-list-of-ships

By the way if you see a probate record or divorce or deceased estate for any of your ancestors at
http://www.records.nsw.gov.au/state-archives/collection-search then just yell as I try to get to the NSW state archives about once a month to take photos for rootschatters.

cheers,
   Ros

Thanks so much for your generous offer, Ros.

No one springs to mind (my lot are mostly WA & Victoria) but will certainly keep it in mind!
