Baptism for Francis Clarkson 1791 - 1797 east riding or anywhere
« on: Sunday 17 January 16 07:14 GMT (UK) »
Can someone help me to find a baptism? I came across the apprenticeship record of Francis Clarkson, son of Joseph Clarkson Sculcoates, Labourer to Benjamin Clarkson, Joiner in  Hull, 1806. I have not seen a possible baptism that fits yet, and would be really please of some help. cheers, Louise

Dear Gogo - what a star! thanks so much. I am trying to sort out multiple Joseph Clarksons about this period in the hopes of finding the 'right' one who is the father of Samuel Clarkson. This 'right' one was first a carpenter (on Samuel's baptism in 1783) then went on to be a Dock man - probably pensioned off, as was Samuel and one of his own sons. On Samuel's apprenticeship Joseph is a Dock Man and at Joseph's orbit he is a Dock Man. Benjamin appears to be a son of this Joseph - he was apprenticed as was Francis. So I think I have 2 male siblings of Samuel....speculation at this point. But I am missing a marriage for this Joseph...do you happen to have Hull St Mary marriages? I really appreciate your help!!!

I made that reply in a rush - just off to work. But that Francis can't be the apprentice, because he is too old. He could be the son of a Joseph Clarkson who was born about 1768. We have 2 generations at Hull St mary having children at the same time - ann, daughter of joseph clarkson jnr was baptised in 1779. Elizabeth, daughter of Joseph Clarkson snr was baptised the same day.... interesting....
