Gold Commissioners and...........
« on: Wednesday 20 January 16 04:42 GMT (UK) »
Could some one please work out what the full title of the Justices, after the Gold Commissioners is.

I have got as far as " we being the Gold Commissioners and the Justices of.................................such Gold Commissioners"

I simply cannot work it out, as the writing is worse than mine.

Any help would be very gratefully accepted.

I'm guessing it has to be 'the Peace' though it isn't clear is it.  It does look like it when enlarged.

From what I can find out, just about anyone with any sort of standing in the colony was a JP   -   my rellies were simply by dint of owning land it seems.

Thanks for that wiggy. I thought that was what it was, but wanted a second opinion, just to be sure.

I am not sure just what the first two words on the next line are, as they appear to be "plus I have" such Gold Commissioners, which makes no sense in the context.

....we being one Gold Commissioner and two Justices of ? other than such Gold Commissioner.....

Not much help with that one word though  :P

Thank you all for your help and interest.

Even with your translation, I find it hard to see "other than", but it does make complete sense in the full context.

Again many thanks for your help. It means that I can now complete the transcription of a license for a public house at Hanging Rock, in NSW. All the rest I had managed, but for those handwritten sections.
