Hannah Summerfield birth about 1714

Hannah Summerfiled married Francis Robinson in a Quaker ceremony @ Lothersdale, Leicestershire on 13 Aug 1745.

The synopsis of the marriage said she was from Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire.  Unfortunately no other details on the synopsis was recorded and the original Quaker certificate doesn't appear available.

It may be that Hannah's parents were deceased prior to her marriage which may account for why she wasn't in her home town. It may also be that prior to her marriage she was 'convinced' meaning she converted from the Established Church to the Religious Society of Friends and this may be the reason I am unable to locate a birth record for Hannah.

Given that people often called their children after parents, her and Francis children were Lidia, Hannah, Phebe, Mary, Martha, Sarah, George and Francis.

According to her age at death she was born about 1714.

I know this is a tall order but hope springs eternal.

A quick check of the OFHS's Oxfordshire Marriage Index (1538-1837) shows only one SUMMERFIELD marriage in the entire county - in Whitchurch in 1757.  This would seem to lend more credence to Hannah being baptised as a quaker.

Quaker records for Chipping Norton come under Banbury and the OHC website confirms the following:

"Oxfordshire History Centre holds the records of the Banbury Monthly Meeting (recently renamed Banbury & Evesham Area Meeting)under collection code NQ1."
