Catherine Elizabeth Hopkins born Madras India 1875

Not sure if this is the right board for Catherine so apologies if I have made a mistake.

I am trying to find her parents. I have her marriage certificate dated June 1898 Woolwich to Alfred Edmund Cotton. It states her father is Edward Hopkins, a private in Irish Fusiliers.

On 1911 Census Catherine is with Alfred in Burley in Wharfedale(her name is given as Kathleen), it gives her place of birth as Madras India. I haven't managed to find the birth yet

I don't know where or when Edward died or who his wife was. Any help to point me in the right direction would be much appreciated

Her marriage certificate has her name as Catherine Elizabeth, and her death in 1959, Burley in Wharfedale she is registered as Catherine Elizabeth. So maybe Kathleen was a name the family used But then one of her daughters was called Mary Kathleen just to throw things a bit.

Have tried to search using Kathleen/Catherine birth but have had no joy on either. Both the 1901/1911 census say she was born in India, the 1911 being more specific in saying Madras, I have tried to find a birth registration there, have spent a few hours on that one

However there is no result for Catherine Elizabeth Hopkins born abt 1875.

Using just her christian names, 1875 born Madras you get:-

Catherine Elizabeth WOLFE.

Using National Archives, looking for info re Edward Hopkins (War Office)  WO records
there is only 1 Edward Hopkins of suitable age:-

Thank you spendlove for your help. I have looked at baptisms in India on FindMyPast, used all sorts of variations on names etc. even tried to see if there were any more children born to Edward Hopkins but no joy

Thank you for the info, have found an Edward Hopkins with the same number receiving a campaign medal in Sudan:

Catherine Elizabeth Wolfe mentioned previously by spendlove died 20th May 1876 Madras, of heart disease, parents John and Catherine. At least that takes her out of the equation.

Have found a marriage 14th May 1879, Rangoon between Edward Hopkins age 32, 89th PV Regiment to Catherine Foley, 28, widow. Edward's father: Michael Hopkins and Catherine's father: Charles Connor Foley. Maybe my Catherine is Edward's step daughter or maybe just clutching at straws
