Archibald James Martin Neill and family, 1926
« on: Monday 01 February 16 23:47 GMT (UK) »
Archibald James Martin Neill, son of James Neill and Sarah Martin, married Martha Anderson. On Oct 30, 1926, I find him emigrating from Ireland to New York via the Camerona, with the final destination being to a friend John Brown, at 459 East Exchange Street, Sycamore, Illinois. My understanding of the voyage is that the stay is permanent. However, I can't find Archibald on any censii, with children James, Samuel,Annie and Sarah. Could he have returned to Ireland?
I don't find John Brown either.

Wow, Rosie17, you are so good!. Is Garry Duff a permanent address? I thought Martha's maiden name was Anderson. Now wondering if she was Martha Burns Anderson or just Martha Burns and not Anderson at all.
Thanks for this great information.

Hi Rosie17,
I see that Martha's father William is from Garryduff, and the marriage date is Nov 26, 1913 in Ballymoney. Now, did they stay in Scotland? They were really moving about.

There's no indication that they ever went to Scotland- the passenger manifest clearly states that the family disembarked in Moville, Ireland (3rd column from left). It also shows the U.K. address as Garryduff (not Garry Duff).

I haven't been to Garryduff since yesterday evening  :)

Thank you very much Rosie17 and aghadowey. You have both helped me very much. I will look on the map but I am thinking Garryduff is near Belfast. I am still hoping  to get to Ireland within the next year.

As of last night Garryduff was near Dunloy, Ballymoney not Belfast  ;)

This might be the Anderson family in 1901-
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Antrim/Dunloy/Garryduff/945993

Possibly Martha's father?
Anderson William James of Garryduff Ballymoney county Antrim farmer died 16 July 1931 Probate Belfast 8 August to Daniel McConaghy farmer. Effects £88 10s.
and mother?
Anderson Anne Jane of Garryduff Ballymoney county Antrim widow died 30 September 1939 Administration Belfast 23 November to Isabella Stewart Anderson spinster. Effects £144 14s.
