help looking for a marriage please

I don't see how you know she was Ellen Williams at birth  Only a birth certificate for one of the children (her own children) will show her maiden name seeing as we can't find a marriage.

i'm helping my cousin who is researching his wife's family and a cousin on that side has the relevant info  but has also failed to find an actual marriage  so the ellen williams in question had a sister mary ann &they were baptised together in manchester cathedral    her baptismName:    Ellen Williams
Baptism Date:    25 May 1825
Parish:    Manchester, St Mary, St Denys and St George
Father's name:    John Williams
Mother's name:    Sarah Williams

So they are actually researching Mary Ann Williams baptised Manchester and in order to clarify something they have side stepped to looking at Ellen Williams (her sister) marriage. 

I suppose the next question must be why do they think that they have this sister Ellen with a husband William Williams. Do they have one of the children of that partnerships birth certificate to confirm her maiden name or are they just speculating that it may be her.  Do you have the parents on the 1841 .  Are they twins.

no it is William Williams they are searching ( i wondered if they were twins but i don't know) so they have all the details for William Williams his birth all census EXCEPT 1841 etc but they can't find a record of marriage i have looked   i came up with one that looked promising but they were both widowed on  marriage record that was for liverpool cousin said didn't seem likely they would both be widowed at such  an early age and dismissed it??

If it is William Williams that they are searching presumably they have one of William's childrens birth certificates to confirm that Ellen's maiden name was Williams. 

Without the marriage certificate have they then just taken a leap into Manchester looking for an Ellen that might fit or do they have evidence they are looking at the right baptism.

yes they have a birth cert for one of them shows Ellen maiden name Williams it's strange cant find a marriage  and can't find either of them on a 1841 census was she still in Manchester or was she in denbighshire and vise versa  i think they have come to a dead end?

Which marriage was that?  Lots of young marrieds were sadly widowed then remarried - did the fathers names/occupations match?
