The Seitz family (Charles and Louisa) came between 1839 and 1840 from Kusel.  We know this from the US census and birth location of their children.  I have found birth records for Charles and his father Johann Daniel, all born in Kusel Bayern.  What port would they have left from?


My family seems to have travelled to and from New York via Antwerp in Belgium. Luckily I've been able to find records of most of them.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

children, who had been born after 1798 are listed in the civil registers (very often withe the signature of their father.

Children who had been born before 1814 had to be presented in the office ( there is a note in the registers). The French (in the need of soldiers) wanted to avoid that clever citizens would register boys as girls to avoid military service ...
