I am seeking records of rent payments by McCollum's to the Marquee de Cunynham business, and any other information as to the McCollum's as tenant farmers on his estate. Please list links of other sources I should contact: the Donegal group?

Did you check to see if the two archives I mentioned hold any estate papers?

Here is one of the 1831 or 1881 census not sure which. This is just one of three McCollum's listed in the Derry area and all are listed as Catholic.

thanks,

Richard

It clearly says 1831 census in the top right corner of the righthand page. The 1831 census for County Londonderry does survive but only lists head of household by name with numbers of males, etc. in household.

Hi, thanks, I wasn't sure if it read 1831 or 81, glad it is 1831.

Elwyn Soutter has very kindly looked up the Lease Books at Proni and has found the following entry

  Quote :
John McCollum, gent of Cloghoor, 3 Jan 1681, lease of Cloghoor, Kilsubin ( Kilcoobin ) Castlenagree, Ardossghtragh ( Aird ) All Parish of Billy . ( D/2977/3A/2/1/4 )

This is the information that I was looking for it shows that John McCollum first leased Aird in 1681 some 50 odd years before he purchased the fee farm simple in 1738 from the Earl of Antrim.
Thank you Elwyn, I appreciate your help in finding this information

My research has indicated that John McCollum was a brother of Hugh McCollum of Glenarm ,
also named in the Earl of Antrim's lease book. John McCollum died without issue and his holdings passed to a nephew, another John McCollum who was the son of Hugh McCollum Glenarm.
