Thomsett/Thompsett from Wadhurst, Sussex
« on: Monday 15 February 16 02:05 GMT (UK) »
Hoping for some assistance ;D

I am gradually moving back in time and currently working on my 7th great grandparents James Thomsett & Sarah Thomsett, who, according to FamilySearch were married 25 Apr 1706 Sussex.

I am unable to locate either James or Sarah's baptism to prove Sarah's maiden name was Thomsett and her parents.

To date I located only 2 children of the marriage:
Mary Tompsett bap 20 Jul 1707 at Wadhurst, &
James Tompsett bap 26 Jan 1708 at Wadhurst

It seems likely Sarah was buried 29 May 1716 at Wadhurst so assuming she must have been a young woman.

Unfortunately this is as far as I have been able to get and hoping for some assistance.

I have  a multi-generation Thomsett family who lived always at Milton-next-Sittingbourne, Kent. Did not travel too much.

Yes no relation to you but at least it is a fairly uncommon name and two separate lines are being researched.

Hi I have Edward THOMSETT marrying Frances SKINNER 1831 ar Tonbridge, Kent in my husbands SKINNER tree. ( Tonbridge, Kent and Wadhurst, Sussex ).

I have found the name in many records in that area, sorry haven't gone any further back with the THOMSETT/THOMPSETT line
