Amos Eli Newbold b. 1871 Exton
« on: Wednesday 17 February 16 16:30 GMT (UK) »
Hello folks

I'm looking for the parents of Amos Eli Newbold, birth registered 4th Qtr 1871. I have found him on the 1881 census as "Grandson" of Elizabeth Clare Newbold (widow), but would dearly like to attach him to some parents.

Many thanks in anticipation

It  could be Eli? (given the middle name)

He is with parents on early censuses. MArries Mahala Catherine Smith in 1874. Several children.
So could well have had Amos Eli at end of 1881.

Hi

First of all, thanks for the speedy replies.

In the 1851 Census there are 3 sons and 2 daughters that could be the parent of Amos Eli.

John b 1840
Eli b 1842
Henry b 1845
William b 1848
Mary Ann b 1850
Emily b 1853

All the rest would be too young.
If anyone has access to the parish registers and can find the birth of Amos Eli, hopefully it will be one of the above people.

Again, many thanks

My sister has collected hundreds of Newbolds from Exton and surrounding places - there are thousands of them.   (They married our Hibbits (lots of them as well!)  She has looked and doesn't have an Amos Eli, lots of Amos and Eli but not Amos Eli b 1871.

I see you can get a 90 day subscription with The Genealogist for £5 which might be useful - much cheaper than getting the Certificate and you could collect other Newbolds on the way!

Best of lick

Hi Forte

Sorry for the late reply, I was in the middle of a house move and got waylaid....

Anyway, is your sister's research the http://www.hibbitt.org.uk/ as I found the George Newbold/Ann Parker page while searching Google. It states George and Ann are her and presumably your 4th great grandparents, they are my 4th greats also so I guess we are 4th cousins? My 3rd Great grandmother was their daughter Ann born 1828.

With Amos Eli I'm just trying to sort out loose ends in which he is definitely one.

Many thanks for your input.

I'm afraid this is not my sister's website.

Best of luck at unravelling Newbolds/Hibbitts.
