Hi Ricky

From the 1841 census index, these may be of interest:

ONIC BALLACHULISH-NT 4 DONALD CAMERON M  40  ONICH
ONIC BALLACHULISH-NT 4 EWAN CAMERON M  8  ONICH
ONIC BALLACHULISH-NT 4 JESSIE CAMERON F  1  ONICH
ONIC BALLACHULISH-NT 4 MARY CAMERON F  40  ONICH

ONIC BALLACHULISH-NT 5 DONALD CAMERON M  1  ONICH

There are a number of Camerons living in this particular area at the time. Have a look at this site for the 1841 census index: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ked1/41ftwillcen11.html

The above URL is for page 11 where the above entries came from.  Have a look through BALLACHULISH-NT for the Camerons, numerous Alexanders, Sarahs and Catherines.

Regards.

Monica

Hi Monica

Thanks so much for the time and effort that you have gone to to look this information up for me, it was very interesting.

Being a fairly common name in the area though I am not sure if it is the family that I'm related to. Some details seem to fit quite well but others do not. I would like to trace the family tree further back if at all possible.

The only further details I can provide are:

Christina's father William was a weaver.

Allan was a blacksmith and farrier and by the 1851 census the family was living in South Drumnadrochit.

The family being:
Mary b.15 October 1833, Killarity
Catherine b.6 August 1837, Lewiston
Alexander b.7 February 1840, Littlemoor
Marjorie b.16 July 1842, Drumnadrochit
May b.16 May 1843, Urquhart d.infancy?
William b. 27 September 1846, Drumnadrochit
Margaret b. 29 September 1852, Glen Urquhart

The family departed from Liverpool on the 23rd December 1853 and arrived in Melbourne on the 20th March 1854.

Thanks again for your help.

Ricky
