Elizabeth appears to be living alone with her two daughters in Macclesfield from 1881 onwards ( transcribed as Elizabeth Ester in 1881 and 1901). From 1901 on she is described as widowed. Everything points to It being the same John Johnson Esler who married both women!

Interesting, so he would have been married to Elizabeth and Ann?? Am I getting this right???

I did note that in 1891 she was still listed as married with the two daughters but by 1901 she is widowed and living with son in law

The 1874 English marriage also lists his father as Thomas  ;)

Might help to compare details on both marriage certificates and census records to see how well occupations match up.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

They seem to have been silk workers, but I haven't managed to find Elizabeth, Isabella and Mina on a census with their father as yet. The first I see them is in 1891 and she is on her own with the two girls.
Were they perhaps in Ireland up til then???

His occupation on  the 1901 with the "other" Elizabeth is an engineers clerk

I have found her on the 1881 in Macclesfield with Isabella and Mina (Jemima) but doing the same search for John don't find him in Macclesfield

I have found a death for an Elizabeth Esler reg Apr/May/Jun 1933 Macclesfield aged 85.  Must  be my Elizabeth.

If she married in 1870 and Isabella born 1871 in Ireland I would assume she would still have been with John, perhaps he vanished sometime after that and she came home to Macclesfield pregnant, deserted to have  Mina in 1873.  Have looked everywhere and still can't see them as a family anywhere. Perhaps he did have two families.. ???
