Thanks Spikey. I know they are different people. The younger guy is the son of the older guy to whom the hat and bag belong. Sorry to all that I haven't made the info clear. Here it is:
1. The older guy was in British Army based in India in 1906 (don't know when he went there) He was born in Devon and from what we know joined at a very young age. Bag and pith helmet are his.He did not serve in WW1. 
2. All three in the photo are related (English father and Ceylonese mother)
3. They are back in India during WW11. The older guy's uniform confirms he is a WO2 - was a civil engineer when he left army so is probably assisting bases for RAF in maintenance or admin role.
That is all I have.
