Lionel did visit them in Canada in 1919 according to The letter. I'm just not sure if he did that while returning from WW1, or if he made a separate trip there later in the year.
Im not sure yet who's died but they were intestate. It looks like Albert was trying to find his aunt who emigrated to Australia. (I found her.. Isabella Reed). He specifically mentioned that he hoped Lionel or his mother might know of relatives who emigrated to Australia.
I've got back to Alberts great Grandfather Oliver Curry but I'm stuck again.. Still no obvious connection to Lionel and his mother

I see that Lionel married a Doris Edith Read. Have you eliminated a connection between her and Albert Reed?

Yes I discounted Doris because she and Lionel  weren't married when Lionel visited the Reeds in 1919.
