I think you need to start with what you know for certain is correct - probably the 1938 marriage cert - and work backwards from the info on it. 

There are quite a few Davidson births between 1939-1950 with a mothers maiden name of John.  You can use freebmd to find the christian names to confirm they are the family you are researching

hello everyone long time between drinks life has a way to pass by I am sorry. What I have found out from the father-in-law He had a uncle harry(that match up some information) and his father( youngest child) for some reason was farm out to a aunt?. What side of family I don't know George married Lilian may john in 1938. Her dob is 1907 in wales died in 1989 in Watford. The family possible come from Perthshire Scotland that black watch I cannot confirm any links possible grand father?. The work house is a real possibilities that put family in the dark.
