Looking for Unwins of Ewell Hall, Kelvedon.
« on: Wednesday 16 March 16 08:46 GMT (UK) »
Particularly interested in the children of Jordan Unwin. I have names of 3 daughters, Emma, 2nd daughter, Mary who married a William Forbes Laurie and Harriet who married E. Grimwade 10 May 1860. I think Jordan may have died in the Stoke Park area of Ipswich. I can find very little about any of them or indeed any other siblings. Need DOBs, DOD's, places and dates of marriage and particularly interested in tracking the E. Grimwade's first name and dates. Thanks in anticipation.
Burt, Cockrill, Craske, Debenham, Double, Grimwade, Grimwood, Hilder, Mayhew, Ray. All from  West Suffolk around the Bury St. Edmunds area.
Simpson, Pittendreigh, Arthur.   Aberdeenshire

Harriet married Edward Witham reg dist June qtr 1860

There are 2 wills  for Jordan Unwin,
one dated 1848 living Kelvedon
second 1878 living Kelvedon leaving monies to Maria living East Bergholt

Not sure if these refer to your Jordan, very few by this name so it should be easy for you to search,
still looking at other census

1901 shows Harriet living as a widow aged 85, livng on own means at 13 Henley Road
Maria died 20/08/1901 leaving £6697. 2s 9p to Edward Hall Grimwade and Edward Thomas Grimwade

Supposition on my part and as a matter of interest  Edward Hall Grimwade was born 1861 Ipswich ,married Emily Fagg in 1885 and was a wholesale druggist

1871 shows parents Edward W and Emily, occ drug merchant, living Lambeth, Edward H aged 9

Edward William Grimwade married Emily Hall 1861 Lambeth

So far can't find a connection between Edward Hall Grimwade and Edward  who married Harriet, but the 2 highlighted above might be father and son

Just a suggestion if you don't mind me suggesting this
If you are able to get to the Suffolk records office you would have an absolute whale of a time searching for this family, not many by the name of Jordan Unwin, the SRO is a very nice place to research and just out of town, all or most of the info can be gleaned from the SRO

Happy Hunting
