Have there been two photos superiomposed on each other??

Something strange isn't there.    Is the man your husband's great grandfather??

Would it be worth chopping out the rest of the photo - or is the younger man the one in question?

Like this for example - obviously it hasn't 'had the treatment' yet   ;) ;)

And  . . . . .if this is what you want . . . .  any chance of a scan at 300dpi?

Yvonne has done a great job, but it would have been easier on her eyes if the scan had been better.  :)

The man is my husband's great grandfather and we are assuming that the woman is his mother but we can't see her properly.  This is the only photo anyone has (that we know of) don't know whether it is superimposed or just very badly developed -looking at some of my early B&W photographic efforts as a teenager they are similar.

Athol would have been barely 21 when Tony's grandma was born - he was 18 when his previous daughter was born (both were illegitimate). Grandma was 21 when her son was born and HE was barely 18 when my husband was born so they were all very young in that family when their children were born.  My husband broken the trend even though he married quite young :-)

So we'd really like to see both of the people on the photograph :-)

I had trouble uploading the scan last night and had to keep playing with the file to make it smaller - happy to upload  a 300dpi one later when I am home again :-)

Ooops sorry - didn't realise the second person was a woman - bit hard to tell isn't it!   ;)

If you want to scan at 300 and still make it small enough to post, try limiting the size when you scan.

E.g.  you may not have the same sort of scanner . . .  but somewhere there will probably be somewhere where you can change the size - see arrow.  And if I am teaching you to suck eggs - then I apologise     ;)   . . .  I had to be taken by the hand one step at a time when I was learning.   ::) ::)

Also if you can pull the 'net'/dotted lines in around what you want that will assist the sizing.

Cheers,  Wiggy

Oooh that's clever . . .  that arrow was straight when I saved it - maybe changing the size of the picture made it curve!  ;D

All good Wiggy :-)  We only have it as a JPEG but I can organise all the above.  I'm good with things like that just not the photo software - I'm the photographer in the family but never use anything to manipulate!

We have a super duper scanner and I spend half my life making my huge photos into something I can email or download :-)

As for it being a woman - it's the hat - well at least we think it's a hat!

Cheers
