Joseph Parkes of Rowley Regis

in 1871 Walsall parish population census,

Joseph is age 15. His father is also Joseph (39), mother Jane (31, sister Eliza (10), brother Samuel (2).

Both Josephs' occupation were Pudler.

All (except Samuel) were recorded born in Rowley Regis.

Unable to trace 1861 population census for them.

Unable to trace birth certificate for Joseph Parkes born circa 1856.

Can anyone help?

      Wondering if Jane could have been Joseph's 2nd. wife... according to 1871 details..she would
have been 16, when she had  Jos. jnr....also an 8 yrs age gap between Eliza + Samuel.

The birth cert. of Samuel would give his mothers maiden name.

Unfortunately there's too many Joseph Parkes births registered in the area of Dudley between 1855-1857 and at £22 a certificate is going to be a costly exercise.

I guess I will need to look for Joseph Parkes Snr in population censuses for 1861 and figure out who is the right wife/mother to Joseph.

A bit of detective work will be required to look for the most likely marriages and deaths of the wife/mother.

Hopefully someone here will have already done the detective work......

I will let you know if I have any success in the next few days.

Likely that Joseph Jr is from an earlier marriage

I don't know where you are getting your certificates but you should only pay £9.25 each posted to anywhere in the world

lots of great leads here, thank you all.

I did have Samuel and Sarah down as Joseph's parents previously,

so we are on the right trial for 1851 census in Rowley Regis as Joseph is recorded as a Pudler which is a match to his occupation in 1871 and his parents' names matches ~ thank you Cas (stallc)

Wrt marriage to Jane Birch - definitely look into this so will look for birth certificate matching Joseph and Jane as his parents and for Jane's death ~ thank you Clairec666
