Pitch is a very uncommon surname, so you would think it easy but none online in Warwickshire. Yes I found the John Pitch Tailor in Norfolk and I put him in my tree many years ago but the more I think about it it may be wishful thinking
As you say Norfolk is a long way from Birmingham, also that John Pitch had two children both baptized I can find no Nicholas
There are only 4  John Pitch's in the country in 1841 census the others being London,Lincs and Romford again  along way away
I have recently found a marriage of a John Pilch 'Sailmaker' of his majestys ship President who married in 1810 in Stoke Demerel, Devon. And I know from Nicholas's death cert (died aged 32 in 1942 that he would have been born in 1810.
Hence my revisiting the possible Sailor occupation

On Thursday I am going to Midlands to look at Aston parish registers which are not on line.
 Fingers crossed
