Hello

My four times Gt. Grandfather was George Hood of Selby, Yorkshire, England, who married Sarah Russel at Selby in July 1815. They had five sons and three daughters baptised at Selby.

Their son William Hood married Jane Casson at Scarborough in December 1851 and was known as Jane Hood and Jane Casson Hood, of Wren Lane, Selby, laterly Byefield alias Byfield, Selby and Brayton, Yorkshire, according to our Hood Family papers and that both were understood to be buried in the Quaker Burial Ground at Selby, Yorkshire, England, UK.

They had three children Edwin Hood, Marion Hood (who became the wife of George Scaum of Pontefract, called Marion Scaum) and Beatrice Hood.

I understand Jane Casson Hood held family papers in the 1880s, which are still held by a Casson family member in the USA.

I would be most grateful please, if your family papers shed any light on William Hood's father, known as 'George Hood of Selby' in 1815, or even, where George Hood was buried when he died at Selby 18th September 1845?

I attach something, we have in our Family Papers, which survive.

Perhaps you will be kind enough to reply? Thank you.

Kind regards, Mark Hood

Hello

I have a later document of Alfred William Hood of Selby.

The Mother of Fannie Adolphine COOKE was a HOMBOURG (alias HOMBURG Register Index)

But it is COOKE of interest.

Interesting, an Alfred William Hood being a witness at the Wedding?

Whilst at Leeds, I saw the letter sent by government, headed Whitehall, London, authorising that after the death of Jane Hood of Selby that her body was to receive special authority to be buried in the Selby Quaker Burial Ground, due to it having been closed.

In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

Hi

I can see Adel Hombourg aged 45 in the 1861 census BORN Germany at Cheetham with Keraetzer Rassaerta (Dr of Arts, French Consul) born Mayence Germany. Relationship between the pair 'cousins'.

Adel died in Manchester in the late 1860's.

What I find interesting is that throughout the census Adolphine was born in France or Paris, yet I think she was baptised in Baden Germany.

Adolphine Marie Frederike Hamburg born 28 July 1843 baptised 12 August 1843
Parents: Gustav Karl* Hamburg and Adolfride.

Adolphine's father was called CHARLES - a name that was derived from the Germanic name Karl.

Speaking of names Clarisse Cooke was born the same year as Clara Edith ( from the census) so I'm assuming they are one and the same person.

You also have a Clara in your family ( born 1854 Selby) , and Alfred W Hoods wife was an Edith .
