Ok  :(

I'm wondering because I never saw the name "Sicbalus" before. I saw your document on ancestry.  Perhaps they wrote the name wrong, of course they are not good in reading the old german handwriting "Sütterlin". Perhaps it could be "Siebald". I will show you what I mean in a few minutes.

I've wondered that myself. It's a very odd name, which should make research easier if it's correct. But that doesn't seem to be the case.

I've heard the names Sebaldus and Siegbald before. Eugen Wolff's father was Sebaldus Wolff. I wonder if it's possible that Sicbalus should be Sebaldus, and that Richard and Eugen could have been siblings.

okay, so it seems the two names would be very easy to misspell. Could Sebaldus be mistaken for Sicbalus too?

I assume you are German, so are you saying you don't think Sicbalus is a genuine name at all?

Yes I'm german.
Sebaldus is ok, it is an old german name, but today not actually.

Would it have been common in the mid 1800's. I estimate that Richards parents were probably born around 1850, although Richard clearly didn't know when or where his parents died, so I doubt he knew when they were born.

SEBALD is a male name
from the old german name SIEGBALD
it means * SIGU=Sieg(victory) * BALD=kühn(daring or valiant) I hope it is the right word
other forms are BALDUS or SEBALDUS

it is from a german lexicon of names
