Yes that was fun, wasn't it?

The extra info was invaluable, but I thought you might be a bit surprised!!

It is surprising how family accounts can sometimes differ from the facts however...  ;D

Arranroots  ;)

BTW you can now look them up in 1881 at www.familysearch.org - good luck!

Hello! Have just finished some delving into this family myself, and thought perhaps you may like to compare my findings. The father of Harry Williams who married Constance Maria Oakley was Wellington Williams, born c. 1812 in Hastings, Sussex. Wellington married Louisa Cowell in 1843 in London. He was a linen collar manufacturer who eventually settled at Park House, Leyton, Essex, with his wife and large family. Their children included Wellington b c. 1848; Louisa Ann b c. 1849; Anna Maria b c. 1851; Minnie born 1852; Alfred b 1853; William Cowell b 1854; Edwin b 1856; Ellen Shaw b 1857; Harry b 1859 and Florence b 1864.
Brothers Alfred, Edwin,Harry and William all attended the Charterhouse School. William and Edwin also attended Pembroke College at Cambridge. Wellington,William and Edwin all became solicitors. Eldest daughter Louisa Ann died at Tunbridge Wells on 13 July, 1881, aged 35. Youngest daughter Florence married Edward Henry Higgins on August 27, 1903, and died August 21, 1934, in Cheshire.

Wellington Williams Senior died on February 7, 1892, of pneumonia following influenza, in his 80th year.

Thank you for your kind welcome! I have come into the Williams line via Constance Oakley, who belongs to my Oakley family by merit of her father being the brother of my great-great grandfather. But as usual with the genealogy game, I've found it impossible to keep strictly to the Oakley line, and always find myself going galloping off in search of husbands and wives and even neighbours. Just can't help myself!!!! :D

Is there any connection to Gerald Wellington Wiiliams (Born 1903)? He was MP for Tonbridge and later Sheriff of Kent. LIved for a while at Crockham House in Westerham.
