Return Sailing for Rachel PHILPOT and family
« on: Monday 04 April 16 11:27 BST (UK) »
I have received help before from RC members, so hope you can continue to help me piece this story together.

My Gt Gt Grandmother Rachel Philpot sailed to New York on the SS Denmark, arriving 6th Oct 1874.
Along with her husband Charles she settled in Shabbona, Illinois with their five children.
Charles died 2nd June 1876 in Shabbona.

Sometime between the death of Charles and the 1881 UK Census (When she was living in Kent) Rachel and the children came back to England.

The names of the children were: Rosa, Alice Rebecca (my Gt Grandmother), Louisa, Zillah and Charles.

I would be very grateful if anyone could track down when they came home. I have tried for ages!

Thank you for your help

They don't seem to be on the 1880 US census, which was done on June 1, so they probably were back in England by then too.
